Have you tried the Inner Circle Bag Sewing Pattern before? 🎒 Well, I’ve been playing around with it, and guess what? I discovered a super simple hack that gives it a fresh new vibe – just by extending the strap length! 🙌
Instead of the classic short, circular-effect handle, you can now create a chic Crescent Sling Bag style – same fun shape, but with a whole new attitude. 😎
And the best part? It’s so easy – Just extend the strap pieces to the length you want, and boom 💥- you’ve got a brand-new bag style.
Grab your favourite fabric, pick your strap length, and let’s give the Inner Circle Bag a glow-up together! 🌟
The Pattern comes with measurements to make the short strap shown in the photo above left.
To increase the length of the strap to either shoulder length or crossbody length, cut piece F as follows:
Cut 1 each in Outer, Lining and Interfacing, as per the original instructions.
(The strap can be made in 2 pieces if necessary and joined.)
The measurements given are generous, we can shorten before joining strap together at the end if necessary.
Follow the instructions as per the original pattern document including adding the notches at the given measurements (no change) and attaching gusset/strap to the bag body.
When you reach the section ‘Attach Outer to Lining’ – clip/pin your lining in place as instructed. For the new longer length straps, start and finish your stitching approx. 10cm (4”) beyond where the strap/gusset joins the bag.
Before joining the raw ends of the strap, pop the bag on your shoulder or crossbody to check the length. The suggested measurements are on the generous side, so feel free to shorten the strap at the top before joining it to suit your style and comfort. Once you’re happy with the fit, simply continue following the original instructions.
